PRESENTATION TIPS

You have probably been looking at your home in its current state for some time, but now that you have decided to put in on the market, it’s time to take a look at it with fresh eyes. Take a tour, look at it like it’s the first time you have seen it!

First impressions are important.

Walk into the property from outside, what do you see, smell and feel? Cleaning and tidying both the inside and outside are very worthwhile, when presenting your property for sale.

HERE ARE SOME HELPFUL TIPS

  • Clean your front door and put out down a new mat at the entrance.
  • Kitchen, bathroom and laundry should be spotlessly clean. You may need the grout and or silicone replaced, as it often gets mouldy and cannot be cleaned. Are any taps leaking? You may need to replace washers.
  • A fresh coat of paint works magic, and is money well spent. Paint colour should be light and neutral.
  • Professionally clean the carpet, and if it is worn or stained, consider replacing it. Timber floors may need to be repolished.
  • Are your light fittings dating your property? Sometimes they can really be compromising the look of a room, especially after a fresh coat of paint.
  • Clean the windows, window coverings and remove dated curtains. Make sure the windows and doors open and shut with ease. This will invite the natural light and fresh air into your home.
  • Clean around light switches and door handles.
  • Replace light globes that are not working.
  • Try to remove and or replace anything that is broken, both inside and outside. This could be door handles, taps, garden pots outside, old toys, screens on windows, wall shelves, hooks on walls, latches, light switches.
  • Your garden can be a great asset. Does it need to be trimmed, mulched, or have some new plants added to make it more appealing? Keep the lawn mowed and raked.
  • Pressure clean the outside, including paved and tiles areas.
  • Clean gutters, windows and screens.
  • Remove pet food, pet beds and pet toys whilst you home is being viewed.
  • Clean and tidy your garage and garden shed. Buyers want to see the storage available.
